CNOOC PPC Project Comes on Stream

On January 3, the carbon dioxide degradable plastics (PPC) project, invested by CNOOC Investment Co., Ltd with an annual production capacity of 3,000 tons, came on stream in Hainan.

Launched in July 2007, the project has adopted a patent developed by Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Science. China BlueChemical Limited (China BlueChem) was commissioned with the project construction and production operation management.

The annual consumption of carbon dioxide of the project amounts to 2,100 tons. The ultimate product is degradable carbon dioxide copolymer, a biodegradable material widely used in medical, agricultural, industrial and other fields.
